How to Update

Each new version extracts into its own folder, so nothing is overwritten. Your characters, posts, and settings are stored outside the app folder, so simply launching the new version carries everything over automatically.

Update steps

1. Quit Role Garden WebUI (use the launcher’s stop button, or stop_role_garden_webui.bat).

2. Download the new zip from the store where you purchased (BOOTH / Gumroad) and extract it anywhere you like (extraction creates a folder such as RoleGardenWebUI_v1_1).

3. Open the RoleGardenWebUI folder inside it and start “Role Garden WebUI Launcher.exe”. Confirm everything works as usual — no reconfiguration is needed.

4. If you have a desktop shortcut, recreate it (the old shortcut still points to the previous version’s folder). Delete the old shortcut, then right-click the new “Role Garden WebUI Launcher.exe” → “Send to” → “Desktop (create shortcut)”.

5. Once the new version is confirmed working, you can delete the previous version’s folder entirely.

Notes

• Downloaded AI models and Ollama are reused as they are. No re-download is needed.
• If you use the app from your phone (LAN access), the Windows Firewall permission dialog may appear again on the first launch after updating. Choose “Allow access”.
• (Advanced) Only if you created a models_custom.txt yourself, copy it into the new folder.
