Troubleshooting

Won't start

  • Extract the zip before running.
  • Run Role Garden WebUI Launcher.exe, or the start bat.
  • Check that security software is not blocking Python, bat, or exe files.

Ollama issues

  • The first-run setup (launcher) also prepares Ollama. If it fails, install it manually from the official site.
  • An existing Ollama is reused (never auto-updated).
  • Downloading models takes time and storage. Only missing models are fetched.

Slow generation

  • You may have selected a model that is too heavy.
  • Verify things work with a light model first.
  • Speed depends on your PC, the model, and Ollama’s state.

Can't connect from phone

  • Check that the PC and phone are on the same Wi-Fi.
  • Check that Windows Firewall allows Python or port 7880.
  • Also check router client isolation, VPNs, and virtual networks.

Backup

Section titled “Backup”

Data is normally stored under Documents\RoleGardenWebUI\. Back it up as needed before updating, reinstalling, uninstalling, resetting data, or editing files by hand.
